Sunday Adult Bible Study

Sundays at 9:30am (between the worship services) there are several opportunities to engage and learn the Word on a more intimate level. The Pastors’ Class (led by the pastors and other highly-requested teachers) usually meets in the main auditorium. It is normally a verse-by-verse study through a book in the Bible.  (We are currently studying the Book of Job.)  The Ladies Class, which meets in the room adjacent to the office, is currently going through a study on the Book of James. We are also currently teaching a Church History class that meets in the conference room.  Other classes are also offered from time to time such as parenting classes, marriage classes, and a repeating class “What We Teach.” These other classes will be announced and the location will be given if they are in session.

Other Study and Fellowship

Outside of Family Groups and the Sunday Bible Studies, MBC also hosts a number of other opportunities for greater study and fellowship.  During the school year, 20-40 men gather on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 7:00am for MOW or “Men of the Word.” Led by Pastor Jon Elliff, this is for men who are serious about growing in their knowledge of the Bible, cultivating spiritual accountability, and increasing in awareness of church history.  Women of the Word meets every third Saturday of the month at 9:30am.  (Childcare provided upon request)  Our pastor’s wives lead this monthly meeting, teaching from God’s Word and giving biographical sketches on Godly women of the past.

Weekly Worship

Games, competition, friends – but most important, we study the Word of God.  We want our students to understand who Jesus is. Sunday morning Bible study is at 9:30am in between our worship services. Friday night Dive-In is at 6:30pm.  Come and bring your friends!  This will not disappoint – trust us.

Outside Events

Get involved in the youth group and be a part of all kinds of fun and ministry events.  From youth camp, to mission trips, to movie nights, to ultimate glow frisbee at the park – we are always up to something (and asking our parents to pay for it!).  Come be a part and we will keep you in the loop.

Kingdom Keiki

The Children’s Ministry of Makakilo Baptist Church exists to glorify God through evangelizing children, encouraging parents, and edifying servants so that the gospel may be spread among our children, families may be supported, and the church may be strengthened.  You will find that our teachers love the Lord and take great joy in teaching children from God’s Word.

KidCheck – We feel strongly about the protection and care of our children.  This helps us regulate who can pick up and drop off your children as well as keeping tabs on all the children all the time.  In addition, we require all children’s workers to fulfill certain training seminars as well as be subject to background checks.  To pre-register, click here to create your KidCheck account. If you wish to help with our children, we will need to insure your church membership; however, you can start by applying here.

Family Groups

Not long after Christ left the earth, those who were Christ followers united together as a family. Though, at times, they can be seen in large gatherings, many times when the Bible talks about a “church” it is talking about a group of believers who meet in someone’s home or in a series of homes.

At Makakilo Baptist Church we are doing our best to emulate that first century church. Thus, Makakilo Baptist Church is, in reality, a series of small groups that meet all over Oahu. Much of the care, discipleship, evangelism, outreach and ministry, happen inside these small gatherings. In fact, you will find that one cannot truly be a part of MBC unless he or she is connected with one of our Family Groups.

We feel being a part of a Family Group is vitally important to your spiritual life so much so, that we made it one of the requirements for church membership. If you have any questions, or are interested in becoming a part of a family group, contact us and we will be sure to help you!
